2024 September Plein Air Workshop | Teton Valley, Idaho - $485

$485.00

September 27,28,29 (30th) | TETON VALLEY, Idaho | $485

I’m really excited to be partnering with the non profit, Teton Arts, and hosting a plein air workshop in the amazing Teton Valley of Idaho. I’ve visited our extended family in the Driggs/Victor, Idaho area for the past five years and have been considering a workshop for the past few years.

I’m happy to finally be making it happen this September.

The entire Teton Valley is incredibly beautiful with an amazing variety of landscapes for us to paint. We will have views of the majestic Teton mountains, rivers, aspen, cottonwoods, and beautiful rolling farmland.

The workshop is set as a three day workshop, with the option to add the fourth day, Monday, the 30th. On Monday we will make the drive over the mountain pass and into Jackson Hole, Wy. We will paint in the morning, eat lunch and do a gallery stroll, and then paint in the late afternoon as well. Add 4th Day HERE

We will be steering clear of the Teton National Park for several reasons (parking, permits, crowds, etc) but I encourage you to plan to spend a few days exploring and even painting in the National Park.

The workshop will officially be hosted out of Driggs, Idaho, and our indoor studio space will be at the Teton Arts facility in Driggs.

The Teton Arts studio will serve as our home base throughout the workshop and will be available incase of inclement weather.

In this three day workshop, I will guide you through my approach to painting on-location. Throughout the workshop, I will explain how and why I choose a specific subject, how to compose it, how to simplify it, and how to turn it into a painting. There will be multiple demonstrations, small compact lectures, as well as individual attention and instruction as students tackle their own plein air paintings. Plan and be prepared to paint in all weather conditions, however, a studio space will also be available in case of inclement weather.

All skill levels are welcome, however, some painting experience is recommended. For complete beginners, or a refresher on the basics, consider my online course (discount for workshop students) covering the fundamentals of landscape painting.

* For returning students - some information will inevitably be repeated, but we will pick up where we left off to keep the information fresh and challenging.

Suggested supply list and workshop schedule will be sent to students prior to workshop.

Feel free to reach out HERE with any additional questions, or for info on the Online Course

The workshop will be based out of Driggs, Idaho. If flying, Idaho Falls, Idaho or Jackson Hole, WY are the closest airports. For housing, there a several hotels as well as a large number short term rentals, like Airbnb.

Cancelation policy: Cancelations will incur a $50 cancelation fee. Cancelations within 14 days of the workshop will not be refunded. Thank you for understanding.
